Nestara — Privacy Policy

How we treat your home's information.

Nestara is a private space for your household. This page explains what we collect, what we don't, and how to take your data with you.

What we store

We store only what your household needs to coordinate:

Account — email, display name, profile photo (if you provide one), and the device tokens we use to deliver notifications.
Circle data — events, tasks, lists, shopping items, recognition (points, streaks, badges), and the activity feed within your circle.
Email preferences — your weekly-email day, time, timezone, and which sections you want included.

Your circle's data is visible only to members of that circle and to Nestara's backend.

What we don't do

We don't sell your information.
We don't share it with advertisers.
We don't use your data to train external models.
We don't read the contents of your linked Apple or Google Calendar beyond what's needed to render events you've explicitly chosen to import.

Third parties we depend on

To run the app we use:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, Firestore database, file storage, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging for notifications. Subject to Firebase's privacy terms.
Resend — sending the weekly summary email. Subject to Resend's privacy policy.
Apple (EventKit) — only when you explicitly link an Apple calendar.
Google Calendar API — only when you explicitly link a Google calendar.

We don't share any data with these providers beyond what's strictly needed for the feature you've turned on.

Children

Nestara is rated 4+ and is designed for family use. We don't market the app to children or collect data targeted at children. Parents within a circle control who else joins.

Notifications and email

You can turn each notification category on or off from Profile → App settings → Notifications. You can change or pause the weekly email from Profile → Weekly email, or unsubscribe from any weekly email's footer link.

Your data, your circle

You can leave a circle at any time from Profile → Circle. When the last member leaves a circle, the circle's data is removed. Direct deletion or export requests can be sent to the email below.
